Destruction and Rebirth: A Major Blog Disaster

Well, anyone who has visited this blog over the last couple of days has no-doubt seen that every post has disappeared. I had what I would call a major security breach. Genius that I am, I never actually backed up my blog. It would have been four years of work down the toilet, but thanks to Google's cache, I was able to rescue the basic text of many of my favorite posts, though the html is not intact.

I'm not sure how, or if, I am going to go about re-posting the old content. There are at least several posts that I really don't want to see off of the net forever, so those will go back up. In the meantime, I am going to start things all over again, continuing to post as though nothing had ever happened. Whatever I decide to do as far as resurrecting my old content will be determined over the next few days.

Please stick with me here as I start piecing things back together.

How in the.... that would be devastating for me! I'm so sorry!

The loss of all those entries suck, but I'm glad you are writing again (on blogger). I enjoy keeping up with you.

Unbelievable suckage, man. So sorry. I've been using self-hosted WP for years and back up my database at least once a month. You might want to think about cross-posting your content on multiple other blog sites. I do the same, just to be safe. I have an LJ and a blogspot blog that act as back-ups for my back-ups. Good luck, man! I hope you can restore your stuff!

Thanks for the kind words.

Well, it's not looking like I am going to be able to put my blog back to the way it was before. It would involved back-dating the 140 posts or so I was able to save, and even then, the html is not intact. I'm still a little shell-shocked, trying to figure out how exactly to move forward. Needless to say, whatever I do, I'll be taking measures to ensure I'm not vulnerable like I was before.
